What are the main ways to send a Vinted parcel?

Vinted offers two main ways of sending a parcel. You can either use a pre-paid shipping label generated by the app, or custom options that allow you to organise shipping separately. Custom shipping is only available on items that are too large or heavy to send via normal postal services.

You will mostly use Vinted’s prepaid shipping option. Here, the buyer will cover the cost of postage. Then all you need to do is download the shipping label and print this off, or take a QR code to a shipping provider for them to scan and print – great if you don’t have a printer at home.

The shipping providers available from Vinted include:

How long do you have to post an item on Vinted?

While it’s a good idea to get that item posted as soon as possible, you have up to five working days to send a Vinted parcel. If you don’t send your item within five days, the order will be cancelled, the buyer refunded, and you’ll receive automatic negative feedback. So, it’s best to send that parcel quickly.

One to two days is a good timescale to aim for to get that item shipped. This gives you time to get the parcel well packaged and in order while still sending quickly.

You may get buyers messaging you asking if the parcel can be shipped ASAP. We’ve all become accustomed to next-day deliveries, so it’s up to you how you respond – but we recommend always being polite and only doing what is convenient for you.

How to send your Vinted parcel in 6 steps.

Sending a Vinted parcel is super easy – follow the steps below and get that item to the buyer as soon as you can.

1. Set your shipping options.

When setting up your profile, you’ll be able to choose which delivery services your buyers can use. So, if you can only access a post office, then it’s best to select Royal Mail and Evri. If you have InPost lockers near you, then these are a great option. You can also go to Profile > Settings > Postage to update your shipping options in the future.

2. Choose a suitable package size for your item.

Vinted will recommend what size parcel you need. Small parcels are best for beauty items and t-shirts, medium parcels are ideal for dresses or multiple items of clothing, while large parcels are a great option for anything bulky, from coats to shoes.

3. Package your item.

Take time to carefully pack up your item. A waterproof postal bag works well for clothing as they are light and come in a range of sizes. If you decide to use a box, make sure it is in good condition with no tears and sealed well. You can reuse old packaging for a more sustainable solution – again just make sure it is in good condition and is properly resealed.

Choose between a digital label that can be scanned at a shop, or a printable label you can generate and print at home. Attach this securely to the parcel. It’s a good idea to cover the address with sticky tape to make sure the ink doesn’t run if the parcel is outside in wet weather.

5. Drop off your parcel to the relevant postal service.

Once your parcel is all packaged up, take it to your nearest drop off location to send it to the buyer. You’ll receive a receipt confirming the parcel has been shipped and a Vinted notification. The buyer will also receive confirmation from Vinted that their item is on the way to them.

6. Track your package online.

Keep an eye on where your parcel is via the tracking service from your shipping provider. Again, you’ll find this in Vinted’s messages along with all the details of the sale. Simply hit the Tracking Information link.

How to package your Vinted items with Adobe Express.

Vinted requires sellers to send parcels in sturdy packaging that is an appropriate material to protect the item inside. They also ask that labels be attached securely so they aren’t lost in transit and that sellers check the prohibited items list to make sure they are not sending anything that goes against Vinted’s terms and conditions. You can find a full list of the selling requirements online.

Once all the formal bits are out of the way, it’s also nice to consider how you can make your packaging a little different – especially if you’re using Vinted for your small business.

We’ve packaged up some top tips so you can get those orders in ship shape.

  1. Create a logo and branding for your business. Strong branding makes a business memorable so take some time to pull together a logo and colour scheme that you can use in your packaging details.
  2. Include a thank you note or card. A thank you is a kind gesture your buyer will appreciate. You can create a “thank you for your business” card using Adobe Express. Include your brand colours and logo, then write on the name of the buyer for a personalised touch.
  3. Add a sticker to your packaging. A little branded sticker adds a professional touch to any parcel and can also help seal your package.
  4. Pop your business card in the parcel. A business card helps buyers find you again in the future and you can create a professional looking design in minutes with Adobe Express.
  5. Create a QR code. A scannable QR code can be added to the back of your business card or your thank you note to guide buyers back to your Vinted page or main website. This can then encourage future purchases.
