How to use image-to-image AI in Adobe Firefly.

With image-to-image AI, it’s easy to turn a photo, sketch, or design into something entirely new. Whether you’re looking to enhance a product photo, rework a hand-drawn character, or give digital art a fresh twist, the AI image generator is simple and flexible. You can generate AI images from photos by uploading your image, selecting how you want it transformed, and letting the AI handle the rest.

Step 1

Open Firefly.

To get started with image-to-image AI, go to the Adobe Firefly app.

Step 2

Upload your image.

Click New, choose Image, and then upload your reference image to Firefly.

Step 3

Add a text prompt.

Enter a prompt describing how you’d like to transform your reference image. Add details about what you’d like to see in terms of subject, style, colors, textures, and more.

Step 4

Choose your AI model.

From the dropdown menu, choose the Firefly image model or a partner model such as GPT Image, Gemini with Nano Banana, or FLUX.

Step 5

Adjust strength.

In General Settings, use the Strength slider to choose your desired outline and depth.

Step 6

Play with styles.

Choose from styles including Visual Intensity, Effects, Color and Tone, Lighting, and Camera Angle options.

Step 7

Export your image.

Once you have an image you love, you can download it, share it with your team, or bring it into Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to refine it further or incorporate it into other images, designs, or layouts.
