"Release of an IPTC Core Schema for XMP has been announced by Adobe Systems Incorporated. The metadata specification was developed jointly by Adobe, the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC), and IDEAlliance. The new IPTC Core Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) schema uses properties from the older Information Interchange Model standard, in addition to newly defined metadata properties, for storing XML/RDF XMP metadata in image files and PDFs."
