Search terms such as border or rectangle or another keyword that relates to your design. Drop in the design element, adjust the size, and switch up the color to match your mood.

Create a border using images.

Upload your own media or choose from our wide collection of free Adobe Stock images to add to your design. Expand the photo to fit the background of your project dimensions, then add an opaque icon shape or text box on top, which uses the negative space to turn the image into a border.

Add a border with text shapes.

Can I add a white border to my Instagram photo?

To get a white border, start by choosing a canvas size that is optimized for Instagram. You can use the Resize feature to easily select from preset Instagram sizes. Then, you can make a white border by adding design elements, like frames, to your photo. Or you can scale down your image and make the background white to create your border. There are lots of options so you can achieve your desired effect in the way that works best for you.
Can I add a transparent border to photo with Adobe Express?
To make a transparent border, make sure that there is enough space between your photo’s border and the edge of your canvas. Then, delete any other elements from the background. When you select the download option, choose PNG (transparent background) and your image will download with a transparent border.
Does the size or quality change after adding a border to my image?
You can start your project using the original size of your photo so you can then download your final design without changing the size or quality. On your desktop device, start a new project using the “From your photo” option. On the mobile app, start with a photo from your device’s library and choose “Original size” to maintain the dimensions.
