TikTok adds new feature for songwriters

Songwriters will get direct accreditation within the app, with users able to discover songs that they’ve created from a separate music tab on their profile.
US TikTok ban may be upheld if no sale is arranged by September 17th deadline
US Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, has said that the government plans to implement a full TikTok ban in America if a deal for its sale to a US entity is not finalized by the deadline.

TikTok expands Community Notes

TikTok’s version of Community Notes (called Footnotes) is being expanded to allow US users in the Footnotes pilot program to write and rate footnotes on short videos which will soon be visible to other US users and will be able to be rated on level of helpfulness.
TikTok launches stripped back version of app in Europe

TikTok Pro is available in Germany, Portugal, and Spain with more regions to follow. While the content on the app is the same as in the original TikTok app, TikTok Pro is focused solely on the content with no live-streaming, shopping, or ads. TikTok’s Sunshine program also offers a way for charities and NGOs to engage with new audiences and the TikTok Pro community to support them.
